There’s a song by Casting Crowns called “In Me”
and it’s a good song…up until they have a kid start singing. It’s so weird. At the very end, this boy starts singing and he’s COMPLETELY OFF KEY. I get that he’s a kid and I guess it’s supposed to be cute, but it’s really like listening to nails on a chalk board. If you wanna get a kid to sing on your album, at least get one that can sing. There are a lot of talented kid singers. Every time I hear it I just want to understand what was going on in their heads when they decided it was an album-worthy recording.
Was the Bible really the best God could have done?
“When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. He told them, ‘The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!” (Mark 4:10-12)
….!?
“With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.” (Mark 4:33-34)
Most conservative Christians operate with the curious delusion that the Bible condemns gay sex, gay marriage, or even gay people; in fact, I saw a person just yesterday who, quoting Leviticus, said “Those gays should be put to death, and it will be their own doing.” Their argument…
I got saved this morning.
Congratulations! :)
I think it is important to recognize and understand that it is not “religion” that breeds violence and animosity, but mankind. It is humans who are violent and unjust. We are jealous, self-righteous, proud, and selfish beings. Yes, Christians have been known to “bash” Muslims and Islam but Muslims are guilty of the same actions. The truth is, no “religion” will make us better people. We are broken but from the Christian perspective Jesus has saved us and made us new again, despite our horrible faults and mistakes. Does this mean we use his grace as a justification for crime and immorality? No. Not at all.
Am I saying that these criminal theists that you speak of are not hypocritical? No. They are. But aren’t I a hypocrite too? For I am a Christian who gossips and lies and hates sometimes. If you know your parent will love and accept and forgive you for bad choices, does that mean you go and make those bad choices? No.
I know I am limited in my response, as I am not sure what the Koran says, but I just wanted to address this question a bit…Sorry if this post makes little sense.
Day 26: a picture of something that means a lot to you
My beliefs and relationship with Christ…which I’m trying really hard to make my number one focus
